Adrenalin Forest

On Thursday the 29th, since our camp was canceled, we did EOTC activities. All year 8 went to Adrenalin Forest. we did lots of fun activities. We were split into 2 groups. The first group went to Adrenalin Forest first while the second group went for a walk. I was in the second group.

We went for a walk and went to Spencer Park for morning tea. After morning tea, we played for a little while. After playing for a little while, we went to Adrenalin Forest. We were instructed on how to do things and were given the rules to follow.

When we got to it, a challenge for me was to do course 2. I am scared of heights so I was scared to do course 2. It was high. Most of them got to course 6 which was 100 meters high. It was scary though. I and my friend Tyra went to do course 2 together.

One way I showed my CARR value was trying to finish course 2. I showed Resilience. My favorite part was doing course 1 which was easy. Something I accomplished was course 2. Most people were scared to do course 2. It was fun anyways.

I hope to go again. I would also recommend you to go to Adrenalin Forest.

Best Of Year 8!!!

What did I really like so far as a year 8? Well, that's a thing to tell. My favorite part of year 8 was doing Business and Enterprise and also doing Passion Projects so far. Well, what I like about B&E was meeting other people, sharing ideas on what you want to do and what they want to do, doing tasks as a group and last but not least, seeing others creativity.

What I like about Passion Projects so far is learning to make new things and doing and sharing things in groups. We made things I never heard or seen. And I will still like when we do the maths craft day. We do what we want to do as our passion. I also got to know other people. And also getting the education from Miss Birtch.

This is what I really liked about being a year 8 so far. Next year we will be a year 9. And of course, I'm gonna miss year 8.

Happier

We watched a video today in class. We are told to write a perspective from the girl or the dog. This is what I did.

It was my birthday. I was sitting at the table, in front of my cake. The candles were lit. Before I could blow the candles, someone else came in and blew them out. I was sad. I got my birthday presents. I opened my first gift, It was a little bow. Then I got a dog. I was quite happy. I had fun with my family but not at school.

I was doing soccer training with other girls on the team. No one was my friend. Instead of being a friend, they were being a bully. The leader was really mean. She picked everybody except me from the team to play. It didn't really matter to as long as my team wins. We won the game. We were told that our picture will be taken. I was given the ball to hold, standing in the middle. She pushed me out and took the ball. I stood out with sadness. I was called back in for the photo. The photographer told me to smile. Since I had braces in my teeth, they laughed at me.

I was disappointed. But then, my dog came in. He got really sick. We went to the doctor. He gave him some medicine. I went to play soccer outside. When I came inside, I saw my dog laying down in a sad way. We took him to the doctor, and a little time later it died. After 20 years, it was my daughter's birthday. All the same thing that happened to me happened to her. It was like a cycle going over again.

I think it wasn't fair for the girl. I really liked writing this. I got to feel how the girl was feeling.

What if I won $50 in Summer Learning journey

Hi, I am Wajihah from Hornby High School. As a year 8, we signed up for summer learning journey. I am writing this blog, especially to Emma. If I won the summer learning journey, I will be given $50. Now speaking of $50, what will I do with it? I will save that in my bank for future use. I will not spend it. I will do my best to win the summer learning journey.

Narrative Fairytales-three little pigs.

We've been walking on narrative fairytales this term. We have to rewrite a fairytale in a different way. Here is what I did:
Narrative Writing - Fairy Tales
WALT: write a piece of Narrative writing that includes a problem and a solution
TOPES: Title, Orientation, Problem, Explanation, Solution
I will be successful when:
  • My writing is Year 8 quality (I have full stops and capital letters in ALL the right
places and my story makes sense)
  • I am ONLY writing what is on my writing plan
  • I have added more to my writing each day, and I am following the lessons and
deadlines Miss Birtch gives me
  • I can self manage and self motivate
  • I have included AT LEAST 3 parts of dialogue with proper quotation marks
  • I have proofread my own work before showing the teacher
  • I have posted my work to my blog each lesson

Title:Three Little Pigs. 3 brothers decided to move to their own independently. They
told their mother jane about this. Mother was happy. They took their mother’s leave and
went away. They decided to make their houses first. Happy  made his house
straws, Neeko made it with sticks and the last one, Lucky, made it with bricks.
A family of wolves was hungry from a week. They decide to hunt the piges for dinner.
They blew the house of happy and neeko. But could not blow the third one. Both the
pig moved to their brothers house to save their lives. The wolves tried to come through
the chimney. But fell in the fire and died.

Orientation:
Welcome! This is the place where fairy tales get real. Once upon a time there lived three
little pigs. They were brothers, who lived with their widowed mother.

In the dark, scary village they lived alone, just the three little pigs with their mother.

They were named Happy, Neeko and Lucky. They moved away from their mother Jane
to be independent. Happy made his house with straws, Neeko made his house with
sticks and Lucky made his house with bricks.

There was danger surrounding where the pigs built their house. They can be eaten
or killed. The three little pigs did not know anything about the danger around them.

Problem:  One day Happy went to fetch some water from the well while Neeko and
Lucky were washing their clothes in the river. While Happy was fetching water, A
voice came from in the middle of nowhere. “Hello”, it said. Happy struggled to look
for the person.

Happy went back. Boom! A wolf appeared in front of him. Happy jumped back in fear.
“Don’t worry I’m your friend” said the wolf. But Happy remembered what his mother
had said “don’t talk to strangers until and unless they need help”. “No” said Happy
“I can’t trust strangers. Please go away”.

Unhappy by th reply from the pig, the wolf called his family “come your lunch is
served” he said. Suddenly a flock of wolves appeared right before his eyes. Scared of
the wolves Happy ran to his house. He ran past his brothers shouting “if you want to be
alive run and hide inside you houses!”. The brothers left everything and ran for their
lives.

Explanation:
The wolves followed Happy to his house. “ I’ll count to three. If you won’t come out
before three, I’m gonna huff and puff and huff and puff and blow your house down”,
said father wolf.  Happy still did not come out.the wolf huffed and puffed and huffed
and puffed and blew the house. Happy ran to Neeko.

The wolves followed Happy to Neeko’s house. This time mother wolf said “ I’ll count
to three. If you won’t come out before three, I’m gonna huff and puff and huff and
puff and blow your house down”.  They still did not come out. The wolf huffed and
puffed and huffed and puffed and blew the house. Happy and Neeko ran to Lucky’s
house.

Again, the wolves followed them to Lucky’s house. This time, mother and father
wolves said “ I’ll count to three. If you won’t come out before three, I’m gonna huff
and puff and huff and puff and blow your house down”.  They still did not come out.
The wolf huffed and puffed and huffed and puffed but could not blow the house down.
Again, they huffed and puffed and huffed and puffed. Still, they could not blow it down.

After trying a couple of time, father wolf asked his children to help the mother and father
wolf. Since the children were just too small, they could not blow. But the wolves did not
give up because they were very hungry. They have not eaten for 5 days. He tried several
ways of getting in the house. Finally, he sat down and thought of a plan. He told mother
wolf about his plan. The plan seems to be pretty serious. What could it be? Is it
dangerous? Will the pig be aware of the wolves plan?

Solution:
Mother wolf agreed and explained her children what to do. The plan was to climb from
the roof, through the chimney and into the pigs’ house. Father wolf started to climb
first followed by the children and then mother wolf. The chimney was a long way up.
It took a little while to get the children up as they were new for this hunt.

The pigs heard a sudden noise from their roof. The pigs ignored it thinking of a bird
and shooing it away. The heard the noise again. The noise was getting suspicious.
After hearing the noise again, the pigs looked out of the window. The wolves were
gone. The pigs knew they weren’t gone they knew that they were on their roof.
After having a think the pigs got to know the pigs plan of attacking the pigs.

The pigs knew where will the wolves come from. They quickly ran to their chimney
before the pigs could. They waited for the pigs to enter through the chimney. As the
wolves came through the chimney, the pigs quickly lit fire in the chimney. Because of the smoke, the pigs fell in the fire. They burnt into ashes. The pig were finally saved
from the wolves. After those wolves, there were no other wolves left in the village.
