Pop Art-Andy Warhol

This term we are doing arts in kete. We are doing Pop Art as our part of work. Our Pop Art is on Andy Warhol. Pop Art is art based on modern popular culture and the mass media, especially as a critical or ironic comment on traditional fine art values. We made a digital name tags. 





This what we  made for our digital name tag.


What I find interesting  in pop art is digital name tag. I want to create a pop art on myself . I hope I would be able to make myself good at pop art.

Skittle Experiment

Method:
  1. 1/2 fill a petri dish with water.
  2. Carefully place 4 differently coloured skittles evenly spaced around the outside of the petri dish.
Hypothesis: I think that the colours from the skittles will come off the skittles.

Scientific reasoning:  The colours of skittles melted while it sank in the water.


  1. What questions arose in your mind? ans. what will happen to the colours? will they mix?
  2. What could you do to see if your ideas are correct?I will observe it properly.
Why doesn't food colouring mix?
Because of Molecules in a gas have lots of energy and spread out even more than molecules in a liquid. Skittles are coated in food colouring and sugar. When you pour water over the skittles the coloured coating dissolves spreading through the water.

Scientific reasoning: The skittles are  made of sugar and food colouring dissolves the food colouring moves over the water with sugar until it cannot move any further because of the other colours.

Planting Seeds

 Today for science we planted 4 kinds of seeds. We planted the seeds using an egg tray. There were:

  1. Mustard.
  2. Radish.
  3. Sunflower.
  4. Bean.
We are going to see how long these seeds take to germinate. Once they have grown we will be able to plant these.

Sunken Forest


7 Ld was reading a book called Sunken Forest. It was a amazing story. There were 30 chapters in the book which we read.

The main characters were Mathew Smith, Nana, Cameron, Jay, Paul, Azura,Policeman- Lews Armstrong(satch).Mathew Smith, Paul and Azura were friends in the camp while Cameron and Jay were bullying Mathew Smith because his father was in jail.The story took place in Gisborne, Lake Mokau and Lake Waikaremoana. The plot of this story is about a boy called Mathew Smith. He was accused for stealing some money. He was sent to a camp for his punishment. He saw a big eel made friend with it. A storm came and made a dam which was going to burst because  of over flowing. He saw a shiney watch in the eels lake an d he discovered that the eel likes shiny things so he exchanged a shiny chain with the watch and he saved everyone from the burst of dam. He was called a hero.My favorite part was when everyone called him a hero.

The Water Cycle

Aim: To make our water cycle.

Equipment:

  1. Plastic Bag.
  2. Water.
  3. 3 drops of food colouring.
  4. Vivid marker.
  5. Cello tape. 
Method: 
  1. draw a diagram on the plastic bag of the water cycle with the vivid.
  2. Adda small amount of water to the plastic bag.
  3. Add food colouring to the water.
  4. Cello tape the water cycle on the window.

Our Adolescent Brochure

My class and I were making a booklet. The booklet was called Adolescent Brochure. It was to explain adolescent(teenagers) students what is puberty. So we started to make brochures for advice. There were four pages of advice.

The first page was about Puberty Changes for Boys. The second page was about Puberty Changes for Girls. The third page was about Personal hygiene and the last page was about What we can do to help that person who is in puberty.

In puberty changes for  boys, we wrote about what happens.In puberty changes for girls again wrote what happens.In personal hygiene we wrote what should do to maintain our hygiene and what happens and in the last page we wrote about helping that person who is going through puberty to understand what is happening to him or her.

Our New Topic For Kete


On a rainy Monday, 7Tz and 7Ld went to 7Sh to watch a movie. The movie was called " The Lorax" it was about maintaining a sustainable environment and it was the next topic in our Kete.

The movie was telling us to maintain a sustainable environment and stop deforestation. It wants us to think about the benefit of a sustainable environment, and what can a polluted environment do to our health.The key concepts of the movie was environmentalism, and sustainability.

My thoughts are to maintain a sustainable environment, and to plant more tree instead of cutting. The Lorax's thoughts were to plant more trees.We live in a sustainable environment and the Lorax lived in a polluted environment.

SCIENCE

AIM: To compare the boiling point of TAP WATER and SALT WATER.

HYPOTHESIS: I think the salt water will boil much more earlier than tap water.

EQUIPMENT:

150 millilitres of tap water (two)
salt (2 tsp)
2 beaker
Bunsen burner
safety glasses
Bunsen burner tripod
heat resistance mat
gauze mat
thermometer

METHOD:

1.Is to collect equipment.
2.Attach  Bunsen burner  to gas tap.
3.Fill up both beaker with water.
4.Add salt to one beaker and mix.
5.Place the beaker with tap water on the tripod.
6.Place the Bunsen burner om the heat mat underneath.
7.Light Bunsen burner and adjust flame to blue.
8.As it heats up place the thermometer in the beaker of water until the water is boiling.
9.Record the temperature on your blog.
10.Repeat the process for salt water.

FINDINGS:Boiling POINT

A TRIP TO ORANA WILDLIFE PARK



  On Monday we went to Orana Wildlife Park. We went in a bus it almost about 8:45. As we reached we all lined in our groups and started to explore the park. A lady woman named Elizabeth guided us to all parts of the park. We saw birds and all types of animals. My favourite part to see all the animals was the Gorilla.



    We also saw the Kiwi Birds . It was dark inside their cave because they always come out in the dark. There were only 2 Kiwi Birds in the caves. We also saw the Cheetahs . There were 3 Cheetahs in the cave. They were brought up by humans.



We all liked our trip to Orana Wildlife Park.
We all hope to go again to other interesting places.

About Me - An Introduction

LO-I'm learning to introduce myself

My name is Wajihah Jahan and I'm from Fiji. I'm new to Hornby High School and I'm in 7ld. I like going to school, following my religion, reading and writing. I don't like children not going to school. At my previous school l used to learn English, Maths, Basic Science, Health Science, Social Science and Urdu.  Urdu is a religious subject in Fiji.

My favourite subjects in school were English, Maths and Urdu. That was all I wanted you to know about me. Since I've started school I'enjoyed making new friends and learned new things.





Fiji is a wonderful country. People come to Fiji to visit our country. There are many wonderful places in Fiji. The capital of Fiji is Suva.  Levuka was the old capital of Fiji.
