Boy- Getting dressed for the big school
Uniforms are very important for British Public schools. This is because it conveys a sense of discipline and reputation. In the book boy, Roald Dhal describes the type of uniform they used to wear. His uniform included a butterfly collar, braces, waistcoats, and tailcoats.
Why does Christchurch value school uniforms?
Uniforms play a key role in promoting pride, self-confidence, and a feeling of belonging within the student body.
I think uniforms are important as it shows the reputation of the school. It also makes everyone feel equal no one seems too rich or too poor.

Pasion Project
Week 1:
In Wananga, we are doing passion projects. For this, we have to choose something to do which interests us. Then, we have to come up with a question that will help us to do it. Once we have answered the question, we have to do a little presentation as proof of our project. I will be making loom bands and selling them.

Boy- Roald Dahl
Boy, an autobiographical book written by Roald Dhal, talks about his life in a boarding school. In the chapter we read, he talks about the Matron who was in charge of the dormitory floor. Everyone was scared of her as she could send you to the headmaster at any time to get caned. She didn't like little boys.
Rules back then were very different to the rules today.

Far-right Threats to Maori Women
"Women who have done nothing other than visibly exist as Maori online increasingly face stalking, harassment, and threats of rape and death". Far-right is an article by Michelle Duff and Kirsty Johnston which was published on Friday, August 13, 2021, by The Press. This paper is written in-depth after weeks of research on who was being threatened and how they were being threatened. Women- particularly Maori women- are being threatened for what they are standing up for. Siouxsie Wiles, a Microbiologist, was also targeted after her work on Covid-19. She was bullied while having breakfast at a hotel and was live-streamed by a blogger. Because of these kinds of people, women don't feel safe in their own house.
If you or someone you know is also targeted, please seek help and speak up for the safety of you and everyone around you.

Commitment
In Wananga, we are learning about being committed. I read an article about Hayden Wilde who won a bronze medal in Tokyo. He showed the value of commitment by being dedicated to completing the course. I also read an article about a woman who caused a crash. Sadly, the crash killed an Irish tourist. She was disqualified from driving for 15 months and fined $7500 for preparation. She was also sentenced to 120 hours of community service. She showed commitment by doing 120 hours of community service.
For me, commitment means being dedicated to something. This doesn't only apply to completing a course, it also applies to relationships, work, promises etc. Commitment is also one of our school values followed by achievement, resilience, and respect.

Term 2 Reflection
This term in wananga, we have done 2 unit standard assessments. The first assessment we did was about our well-being. We had to choose parts of our well-being that we would work and improve on. Once we had chosen 3 improvements, we had to run it for at least 3 weeks and record evidence of doing it. I recorded my evidence in a doc. Once we had at least 3 weeks of evidence, we had to write our conclusion. The conclusion was about how effective our plans were. My plant was quite effective because it helped me improve in a lot of ways. The second assessment we did was about financial wellbeing.. In this assessment, we had to plan our budget for a month. We were given a scenario if we didn't have our own. I used the scenario to do this assessment. In this assessment, we learned words related to budgeting and what it means. We also worked out the budget for the month by altering some unnecessary payments. This assessment really helped me learn how to budget.

Memory
Should Jonny take Sophie's money? I think he should not take the money. Although he has cleaned her kitchen and he thinks he deserves it, he cannot take it. If he really wants the money he should ask Sophie. He should tell Sophie that he has worked hard on cleaning the mess in the kitchen and he found the money under the sink. Even though she lost her memory, she will respond in some way. In our religion, taking something without asking or informing the owner is considered stealing.
What are ethics? moral principles that govern a person's behaviour.
The Quran states that the consequence of stealing is to cut off their hands no matter their gender. Some countries follow these rules seriously especially Muslim countries because it's stated in the quran. Some countries don't find rules important.

Memory- Resilience
We're reading a book in Wananga called memory. In this story, a boy named Jonny lost his sister in an accident. Now he keeps thinking that why did his sister die in that accident why not him. To get blur the bitter memory, he gets drunk every day. He drinks one glass followed by the other until he's not in a state to remember anything. This is not good for his well-being. He is not being resilient he is not standing strong to face his fears and problems.

Wanaga Assessment
In Wanaga, we are doing a unit standard assessment. In this assessment, we plan to improve our personal well-being. We have to plan on how we'll do it and how it will be recorded. Once that is done, we start following the plan and record it every day. We have to choose 3 factors that we have to work on.
