J6's Bake Sale!

Today we did a bake sale. This bake sale was for raising money to help families who need food. We started with an idea of raising money and giving to the SVA( Student Volunteer Army) but we made some changes and decided to give it to the Hornby 24/7 workers who buys groceries for families who don't have food.

The bake sale was held in our class(J6). Some students from my class made and brought something from home while the others made posters to hang around school to raise awareness. I made cupcakes. some students were selling stuffs while others were sent to encourage other students to come and buy and raise money for the donation. I was in the selling part. I enjoyed watching students and teachers raising money. We made $140.70. I think that will be enough  for a family to buy groceries for 1 week.

How Many Crackers Can I Eat In A minute?

Today we did an experiment in science. We had 1 minute. We were to see how many crackers can we eat in 1 minute. I could eat 5/7 crackers. We were given 7 crackers.
Helpful Info: One of things saliva does to moisten food  so it can be easily swallowed. Dry crackers absorbs a lot of saliva. so your  mouth dries out it difficult to swallow.

Last Update On Matariki!!!

Why doesn't New Zealand have snakes?

We are writing and explanation writing. We had choose our own tittle so I chose "Why doesn't New Zealand have snakes?".

Question I am Answering: Why doesn’t New Zealand have snakes?

Why doesn’t New Zealand have snakes?

New zealand is one of several large countries around the globe. For example, Russia is one of the largest countries. New zealand is also too cold for snakes. There are several more countries that are too cold for snakes to live in. snakes are reptile. They have scales they can’t take cold.

Well, there were snakes in New zealand before and after. You can’t even find snakes in New Zealand zoos. You can find snakes in warm or hot countries for example you can find many species of snake in Australia. There are more countries that have various of of snakes.

Though, some snakes are highly venomous. Some snakes are harmless while some are harmful. However, 2 or more species of sea snakes are sighted in New Zealand shores. Sea snakes and kraits are occasionally visitors to New Zealand. Sea snakes and kraits are highly dangerous.

Somehow, there are no records of someone get bitten by a sea snake or krait all these years.

I got the information online

Success Criteria: Does your writing…
- Have at least 3 paragraphs
- I have used scientific words
- My facts are correct and I have made 1-2 references to where I got my information
- ALL my punctuation is correct
- read your explanation outloud to a partner, does it make sense?

Reflection Questions
Something I did well: finding facts online.

Something I need to improve: writing my paragraphs.

What I learned from this assignment: that not only New Zealand but other countries don’t have snakes.

Comment from my partner:
Ruby C: Over all I only fixed up 2-3 mistakes for country which was meant to be countries,
Maybe next time she could add a interesting fact about snakes for thoses who have interests in snakes.

Predictioin

In science we did some prediction in telling the flavours of lollies without looking. I did mine in a group. I found it fun and interesting. What we had to change was the taster and what  had to remain the same was the brand of lollies. There were green- lime, red- raspberry, white- lemon, yellow- pineapple, purple- grape and orange- orange. We liked this experiment.

What To Posts On Internet?

So today in cybersmart we were talking about What should you post on Internet. So we made a PowToon slide show to show you what you should post on Internet.
I found it interesting telling someone for their personal safety. This is to help you know what to post.  If you also learnt it or if you like it please leave a comment.(-:

Dance

Today in music we did dance. We were taught the steps. We also got to do a free step  somewhere in the dance. Some steps were hard and challenging. I got a little nervous while doing the dance. Today it was just the practice, in three weeks it is the performance. I hope I get it.
