EOTC PART 1/4

As a year 8, We are going to do camp activities, but not camping. We will do the activities that will replace our camp time. First we are going to Omaka Scouts camp. We have 4 places to go to but today I'm only talking about the first one. We had three choice to do on Omaka Scouts Camp. I chose the second one. It was 'Find It'. In that we have to research the highlighting events that happened in Omaka. Here is what I did:

The Three Little Pigs- Fairytale

We are writing a narrative fairytale. We have 5 parts to write as class. As a class we are now on the second  part. The 5 parts are called TOPES= Topic, Orientation, Problem, Explanation and Solution. this is what I did for Orientation.

A GOOGLE A DAY?

In cybersmart we did a google a day again. This time the question was "if you stacked 20 bills until you reached 1 million would the stacks be higher than the rim of a basketball hoop". So you won't just find the answer in google. You have to divide the question in 2 parts and think a sensible way of asking google a question. Here is how I did:

1. I asked google the whole question but could not find anything.
2. I separated the question into 2 parts.
3. I first asked "How tall is 1 million dollars stacked in 20 dollar bills?"
4. Then I asked "how high is the rim of a basketball hoop"

Then my answer was yes it is higher then the rim of a basket ball hoop. If you think my answer is wrong than comment and please give me the right answer. Or if you have done this in your class then also tell me how you did it in the comment.

Chemistry.

In science starting from this term, we are doing chemistry. We did 2  experiments. The first one we did was melting solid (ice) to liquid (water) to gas (vapour). We took the temperature of the ice before melting. We kept taking the temperature every minute. The apparatus we used were: thermometer, tripod, gauze, beaker and Bunsen burner. We recorded what the temperature was every minute on paper.

The second experiment we did was putting potassium permanganate Crystal in water and see what happens. we first fill a beaker with water, put a straw in the middle and drop in the Crystal. When the Crystal started to melt, the water started to turn purple. We recorded the process.

A sad experience with someone I care about

For writing we were writing a narrative story that has actually happened in you life. I chose "A sad experience with someone I care about". You had to make a mini plan, plan, write intro and your story. Here is my mini plan:

Protagonist- me

Characters- -mum, dad, uncle#1, uncle#2, aunt, aunty,grandma,
grandpa,me, sister, brother, cousins.

Plot- grandpa passing away.

Setting- my house, hospital

Conflict - leaving us alone.

We did our plan in our literacy book. We wrote our hamburger plan. Unfortunately I can't take a picture. So I will get on to show my writing.

A sad experience with someone I care about

Intro-

We went to Hokitika for a holiday. We came back after spending a night at my aunt’s house. We went on Saturday and came back on Sunday. After we came back grandpa went to bed to rest after travelling so far. My sister was also in the room where grandpa was. He was sleeping. Suddenly my sister heard someone talking. She looked around. She asked, “ Grandpa is that you?” It  was grandpa!. He was talking to himself. My sister woke him up he said he was fine. Suddenly he started breathing heavily.

My sister ran to call grandma. Grandma ran in and saw grandpa breathing heavily. She shouted, “ Sons come here and look at your father!” They quickly called an ambulance.

The doctors checked him. As he was getting checked he was asked several questions. He kept saying he was alright. But he was rushed to the hospital in the ambulance. Aunt went with grandpa in the ambulance followed by dad, grandma and uncle.

He was admitted in the hospital. He was scanned, x-rayed, dripped etc. When the reports from the scan came the  doctors told us he had an major heart attack. He had cancer spread all over his body which caused a major heart attack after the attack the heart stopped pumping and grandpa stopped breathing. We all cried and cried. His funeral was the next day. All our relatives came to his funeral. He was the best grandpa in the world we still miss him.

A google a day?

Today in cybersmart we were doing a google a day question. The question was very hard. I got the answer I don't know if its correct. first you have to know the time in that country and to north pole.

Explorers from Khushiro, Pevek and Namsos arrive at the North pole and check their watches. If they arrived at 11:42 a.m, 12:17 p.m and 3 a.m, respectively, which team was first? Team from Namsos.

You can also work the question out and answer in the comment. And also let me know if my answer correct.

Water Rocket!!!

In science we made water rocket. We made it out of 1.5 litter bottle and we added wings which was made out of cardboard. We also made a cone to support it fly. We filled it with 1/3 of water and then we filled it with air and launched it. At first the bottle was getting filled with air then it suddenly flew up but not very high because we didn't make go up high for safety reasons. Well I really enjoyed launching. I hope we can do that again next week.
